Three Years.

by Hannah

September 1, 2007.

I was a teenage bride, just shy of my twentieth birthday. I was so giddy and in love.
We knew we were really young, but it didn’t matter, because we just knew that it was right.

I am so happy to say that we weren’t wrong.

Three years. Several jobs between the two of us. Grad school. Dropping out of grad school. Starting a business. Having a baby. Buying a home. Growing up a lot… together. This has been one crazy adventure.

On our wedding day, we were in love, and the excitement of it all was probably our biggest bond.

Living life together has created a deeper love, a raw connection and stronger bond between us. We have had hard times and amazing times, and have seen each other at our best and worst and most real. And we’re still here. And we’re still excited, and more in love than ever.

I have learned so much about love, and about life and human nature and relationships and myself, from my marriage.

{Manny– thank you for being you. Thank you for sharing your life with me. I am so glad that I am your wife, that we’re facing the world together, and raising a child together. Thank you for believing in me, supporting me, telling me I am beautiful, and reminding me that I am loved. This has been the best three years of my life. Here’s to the next 70 (give or take). I love you. ~Hannah}

{like a roller coaster. or the ocean…}

Relationships, that is.

They do have their ups and downs, twists and turns. Times of storms and turbulence and times of smooth sailing and clear skies.

And they teach you so much. About yourself and about human nature. Through my marriage I have seen parts of me that never really showed before. It gives you a lot of opportunity for self-reflection and, if you keep an open heart, self-improvement.

I have been blessed to be married to someone who wants me to be me, and who supports me as I pursue my dreams. Someone who thinks I am beautiful, and tells me I am crazy when I focus on my flaws.

And now that we have a child, I see how tender he can be, how protective. Our son adores him, and that warms my heart.

Time alone together is rare these days, and we are learning to value it. To cherish it.

Today we went for a walk {not alone, but it was good anyway}, and he took some pictures of me to use on my website. He’s got a pretty good eye, no?

And of course I took a few of him too. I love this one.

my guy

Never take love for granted. It is so very precious.

The Best Year Ever!

by Hannah

On the first we celebrated our one year anniversary. We ate (and are still working on) the top tier of our wedding cake, which had been in our freezer for the last year. When it thawed it kind of melted a little, but it is still very yummy!
We agreed- this has been a really amazing year. We are looking forward to many, many more years together. I know it is only going to keep getting better.

For now I am just writing here: http://hannahmayo.blogspot.com/
It is our official “baby blog”, and I’m putting family updates there too. I’m not sure if I’ll write in this again eventually or not, but take a look at the other- we’ve been taking pictures of my growing belly and other fun stuff!

A Little Update

by Hannah

We survived being apart for five days while I was in Boston. It was an amazing trip- I got to see family and experienced snow for the first time. I fell in love with the city, and bought a Harvard t-shirt. Highlight: seeing work by Degas, Renoir, Monet and Van Gogh at the Museum of Fine Art. It was breathtaking to be in the presence of such famous pieces.
I started my new job a few days ago, and I love it so far. I am working in the library’s youth services department, and will be teaching the “Tiny Tots” (walking-24 months) class starting in March. So I am brushing up on my nursery rhymes, picture books and Raffi songs.
We’re still hoping to hear good news about a new job for Manny, and I am hoping for a good photo gig to pop any day now…
